Candidates for the Ballon d'Or: Modric’s year
The Croatian, who has already won the UEFA Player of the Year and The Best Award, is one of 30 candidates.
We start out a review of the eight Real Madrid candidates for the Ballon d'Or with Luka Modric. The Croatian has had a memorable year, in which he won la Decimotercera and took his national side to the World Cup final. In August he won the 2017/18 UEFA Player of the Year award and in September picked up The Best FIFA Player 2018 award.
Modric was instrumental in the 2017 Club World Cup, which Real Madrid won in Abu Dhabi. His performance at the Zayed Sports City Stadium saw him awarded MVP in the semi-final and he got the Golden Ball of the tournament. In the Champions League, he played 11 games and led his side to their third consecutive European Cup. His performances saw him named as the best midfielder in last season’s Champions League.
